... to Kerry. My thoughts on smoking would be similar, but stronger; there is GREAT HARM in smoking, both to the individual and to society as a whole. Cigarettes do more direct harm than all other drugs (including alcohol) combined. I do not smoke and do not permit smoking in my home (never have).
So, as I said to Kerry, don't take my argument on one point and project it onto another (unrelated) point. That is nothing more than setting up a straw man to knock down.
Our societal attitude about gambling (like so many other things) is hypocritical in the extreme. It's okay for children to go door-to-door selling raffle tickets (one form of gambling) but not to play slot machines (another form of gambling).
Based on your statement that Casino Rama has Nevada style "bells and whistles", I would say (BUT FOR THE FACT THAT IT'S ILLEGAL) I would have no problem taking my 12-year-old daughter there to play the slot machines. In other words, if it was legal, I would be willing to let her play under my supervision. And, to go a step further, I personally would have no problem with a change in the law which would make it legal for a 12-year-old to play the slots if supervised by an adult.
And, it sounds like Casino Rama is a place I'd like to visit! ----- jim o\-S
