So, if you have my address on file the new Zip Code will be 89074 starting July 1st. Below is the story from the KLAS Web site.......Andy - Las Vegas
"Henderson is one of the fastest growing cities in America. New housing construction is one sign of Henderson's rapid growth. Another can be seen in the back rooms of the Valle Verde Post Office. The machines used to separate the mail can't keep up with Henderson's mail volume so the post office is adding a new zip code. Vic Fenimore, spokesman for the U.S. Postal Service, says, "Henderson in itself has the largest sortation scheme in the U.S. So at this time it's imperative that we split 89014."
The sortation process uses the zip code to divide the mail into carrier routes. But Henderson has grown so rapidly, the delivery could have deteriorated if the new zip code wasn't implemented.
"Without that it would mean a lot more manual labor for us...a lot more time spent...and a very good possibility for the delay of the customers mail,"
32 carriers will work in the new zip neighborhood. Fenimore says residents in that zone won't notice any change in service: "They won't tell any difference in their mail whatsoever."
Henderson resident Lex Parlova is one of the 19,000 who will have to change his mailing labels and checkbooks: "We'll have to change our zip code and it'll be kind of a hassle."
