... a stab at explaining exactly what "impression" a 12-year-old playing slots with her father is going to receive that is so bad?
Gambling (including slot machines) is legal and not, in my opinion, inherently immoral. Playing slots is fun. And, at least when accompanied by an adult, a Nevada casino is about as safe a place for a child to be as anywhere in the state (or any other state, for that matter). With the level of security, omnipresent video cameras and casino employees everywhere, it is about as safe an environment as there is anywhere in the country.
I know of the one sensational example of a child being murdered in the restroom of a casino, but she was NOT accompanied by an adult, so consider that neither typical nor instructive on the issue (and that almost certainly would never have happened in the slot machine area of any casino).
I have never been to Casino Rama, so maybe that IS a bad place to take a 12-year-old. That's something I'd have to decide after making an actual visit. But, I would have no problem at all taking my 12-year-old daughter to the slot machine areas of most Vegas, Reno or Tahoe casinos. That is, if my daughter was still 12 (she was exactly double that a few days ago and now visits Reno on her own! ).
