I didn't start it until it was really too late for me to hope to get in all my chips (now numbering in the thousands). What I did was to put in one of my small collections (South Dakota). Sure it takes time, though you can short cut the operation by not filling in all the blanks. But once in it is easy to keep current (particularly if you have South Dakota and there aren't many new chips to add ). But I did make one terrible error last year--after completing the task, I wanted to copy it onto a disc and even with a computer guru sitting by me to make sure I didn't screw up, sure as heck, I ended up erasing the whole thing. But that was my stupidity. In any event, I don't have a lot of time to enter it and still have a few S.Dak. chips to go. But I like CheckMate and recommend it.
My total chip inventory is on Excel and will probably stay there.
