You could keep the chips in the bank vault and have a book of color scans at home for reference. I have made color scan sheets of all my chips and can carry the small notebook with me if needed to check what I have.

Even if you keep your collection at home, the scans might be a good backup for an insurance claim. Of course so would a software collection program.
