Many of them used Ike dollars (not silver, though). In '79, private issue dollar tokens were authorized again and there was a new bout of token issue. Many continued to use Ike dollars though as they were easily available from banks, although they did tie up the casinos' cash.

I believe all the dollar coins with silver content were retired from the casinos by the late sixties.
