Of course it is desirable to bring together groups of people with common interests and invite them to hold some level of official affiliation with the other groups. Making such affiliation a reason for disdain if some group doesn't meet (or doesn't want to meet) one or more self-held requirements for acceptance as a valid category of collecting will meet resistance, and lose potential full club memberships from those that don't want to join a club presents itself as being exclusive and unapproachable to a beginning collector.
