The scan that Tyrus reposted (thanks Tyrus!) wasn't a figment of my imagination, a computer model of what might happen under certain situations or baseless speculation. It was a real picture showing the chemical interaction that occurs when some red dyed chips are housed in some types of plastic. It IS a problem! The softer the plastic, the bigger the problem. I didn't leave chips in the holders shown in the scan in my car in the middle of the summer in Vegas. IOW, I didn't bake them. Dick Covington has also posted scans showing the differences between chips that never saw a soft plastic home and those that had.
