Ron,
The chip is V5767 - listed as a "Z3" in TCR. A number of these (at least a box, if not more) were discovered a while back. Rene was selling them for $25. They pop up on Ebay from time to time, but usually sell for around that price. In this particular case the seller was at least up-front enough to disclose the discovery. More than likely what happened in this case is that two buyers (not familiar with the history of this chip) thought the value was closer to the Z3 range and got into a little pi**ing match with the bidding. It IS possible.... I know I have paid too much for a chip before. I bought several of the Thunderbird chips - one for my collection, and a couple to hang onto for a while. If somebody wants to pay me $250 though, I'll sell one in a heartbeat.
