Maybe I selected the wrong choice of words there... I don't think necessarily "one" set of numbers would have to be implemented... the ChipRack does a great job with Nevada - and the these "numbers" appear to be accepted and used by most of us. That is fine.
Black's numbers are basically accepted and used to define chips in Atlantic City. THAT is fine.
Being I don't collect River Boats... I can't say much - but my understanding is Greg has implemented a numbering system for these chips... and again ... this is fine.
There is no doubt that these authors have spent many years doing research and have used their expertise to help us "little" people understand and identify the chips we have grown to love. (So John Benedict? When is YOUR book coming out )
But there IS a need to have "an entity" - whether it be an individual or group of individuals - help us define a standard to identify chips correctly - and have this information available to us all... Of course, it makes sense that the "experts" in thier fields be the one's to do this - not an outside agency or organization.
Bob - I agree with you that outsiders doing this for profit is NOT the answer... and Mr. Colorado- you should have your own book!
As far as my doing a Harrah's catalogue... I am a LONG way from there. I can't even get a darn Reno birthday chip.
