...is a common and correct term for parrots. However, it is not the shape of the bill that is used for classification so much as it is the function. Parrots bills are hard for cracking things like seeds, nuts and knuckles (ouch!). The hooked shape, independently jointed upper and lower mandibles, and a strong maneuverable tongue make a very capable 3-fingered hand. Charlie could easily open the latch on her hage if I didn't padlock it down.
