A REPORT ON "CHECK MATE"--the collector'

I met Keith Reeves at the Convention and told him I would be glad to try out his new gaming chip storage software. It has taken me some time to find the time to put in one of my smaller collections. I loaded in my 187 different South Dakota/Deadood chips--didn't get around to downloading pictures and won't for awhile. But folks, the soft ware is great. I had no trouble putting in the chips and accessing them through the search mechanisms. Because I have so many chips I just cannot take the time to use the software for all of my collection...I'll stick with Excel. But to the new chipper, try it. I think you'll like it. There were a few bugs in the original software package that they have worked on and corrected. And there were a couple of things I didn't care for--perhaps through ignorance. There is a duplicate box for the kind of chip and the date of issuance has a calendar that stays current with the present date--which is great if you add a chip on that date or one close to it--but a nuisance and not readily useable for chips issued, say, 01/01/90. Plenty of space for notes. I know Keith &/or Carol Reeves would love to hear from you.
