I agree. If you have to worry about this stuff all the time then it ain't worth it.
I grew in NYC, you always had to be wary of the next guy. I went to college in a rural area of Long Island and lived off campus my senior year. I was stunned that nobody locked their front doors or their car doors. I then realized that this is the way it ought to be. If you have to worry about protecting yourself all the time, how much freedom to you really have?
