There are other techniques using rotating cutters that remove the marking color and the impression. These are pretty good and unless you know what to look for, you'd never know the chip had been cancelled. I don't use this method myself, but there are at least two in the chipping business who do. Beware!

As Andy said, the solvent method only removes the stamping foil from the impression in the chip plastic.
