Gene my true belief is that Borland copied some chips that were already made. Others he used the diecar mold to reproduce whereas an original existed, usually, of the Nevada mold. What I believe from learning about this years ago is that he bought molds from Bud Jones of the diecar & Nevada. He copied some chips, & chips that he could not find he made. By copied, I mean made some exactly like originals but did not have the correct hot stamping to do the proper gold & his look brassy. Correct? And as said usually the other mold.
Also the "lead" in the chips on the early verses later manufacturing process.
I see Centerfold is of that diecar mold you question or rather believe to be all fakes. Correct? I never questioned it's authenticity.
How many have you seen to believe they were used in a poker room elsewhere? I have seen maybe 10 very used & about 4 or 5 in near new condition.
Maybe you can teach me something here!
Should we get this post going up at the top for others so see & learn about? Can you copy this to the top or with your next post on this subject so all can see. I don't know how to copy as you guys can the quotes someone else makes.
I have been asked about counterfeits in the hobby & this would be an excellent topic to discuss. Especially since you seem knowledgeable.
Thanks
James
