Hey Don,
If you check out Bourgogne et Grasset's web site, on the page for security markings they say about UV Printing:
(ref: http://www.bgchips.com/s526.html)
"UV reading chemical materials can be added at no extra cost in regular printing colours. Non visible UV ink can be printed at additional cost. Both these techniques enhance the jetons resistance to counterfeiting"
Also on the CHIPCO web page:
(Ref: http://www.chipco.com/security.htm")
UltraViolet Security
CHIPCO is unique in our ability to incorporate intricate UV images on the face and edge of our chips. Black light verification of chip authenticity is quick and accurate, providing an additional level of security. Including UV coding on your gaming pieces deters counterfeiting efforts.
As for why LUXOR has six different UV markings only on their $1 chips - someone needs to ask LUXOR.
May be Gene can help identify how much the additional UV printing costs are. If memory serves me it adds about $0.05 / chip...
Regards,
Dick
