... an officer position in the slabfree chapter (after having become eligible by losing in my other election contest! ) because I was concerned that others would find it difficult, were I to speak on the subject, to differentiate between my personal feelings (anti-slabbing in every possible way) and the official chapter position (which, as Gene notes, includes everyone who is anti-slabbing at all, including those who do not favor either a convention/auction/magazine prohibition and/or a dealer boycott).

Which is not to say it will be impossible for others serving as chapter officers to express their personal opinions. They will just have to be very careful how they do it, so as not to give the impression they speak for the chapter when expressing personal opinions.

I am very comfortable with Peter's position and his participation in the chapter. He has worked very hard on this cause, is an articulate spokesman and will be an effective slabfree leader.
