They did have valuable obsoletes in slabs. Some were in the $100 to $300 range. I did not check value on all of them.
The two LE's I remember were the MGM Betty Boop and the FQ's $100 Oscar Goodman, but there was others.

They were only giving away $1 house chips in slabs. No one had to "steal" them. Not sure where you are coming from on that one.
