Mike,
There will be at least 4 tables promoting slabbing, not 3.
Thank you very much for your check. A number of other chippers donated extra money for our Anti-Slabbing efforts at the convention. We also had a table at the last Palace Station show. We felt it was a big success.
To be fair, I should explain for new members on the BB.
When the slabbers were sold a table at the PS show, Steve Soden had the idea for an Anti-Slab table. I sorta butted in and said I would split the cost with Steve. The BB would have none of it. They all chipped in and the table cost us about $5 each. Dick Brach had anti-slab signs made at work and Archie got many of the dealers to post them at their tables. Ralph had Anti-Slab T-shirts made. I feel we overwelmed the slabbers.
We decided to have a table at the convention. I do not have the exact numbers in front of me but I believe about 30 of us chipped in and raised about $2,000. We have spent most of this money.
I am not sure who came up with the Slabfree Chapter idea but it was after we had raised the money. I sorta spearheaded the drive for members. Greg donated the Slabfree.com site. We got 100 members quick. We have nominated officers and will have a meeting at the convention. Most of the $5 dues will be earmarked for future Anti-Slab efforts. Yes we want more members. We want to be the largest chapter in the CCGTCC. It is partically my fault we do not have more members. I have fallen down on promoting it lately. My mother is visiting and when she leaves next week, I will get back on the job!!!
All of what I described was done through the efforts of many of the chippers on this BB, that I have not named.
Peter Sanders filed the paper work for our chapter.
Amy Andrae has been our banker.
Jim Reilly donated 2 days manning the table at PS.
Mike Skelton designed the ads you will see in this issue of CCGTCC magazine.
Andy Hughes has been the keeper of the list among other things.
Marty Kaplan
Robert Touts
Janice O'Neal
I sure hope no one is upset as I am sure I have left out some important names.
The "List" and the Chapter are two different things. The "List" is a little more radical than the chapter. I among others belong to both. The chapter intends to educate members on the evils of chipping. The "list" goes so far as to with hold purchases from dealers that show slabbed chips.
I promise to promote both in the coming weeks before the convention.
