Mr. Campiglia, I have been collecting chips for a couple of years, and been a member of the CC>CC for only 6 months or so. I am an active participant on this board and you will see my posts frequently.
My interest in the subject stems from seeing what the slabbing corporations have done to the coin collecting hobbyists over the years. The way they have artificially increased the cost of participating in the hobby, the special interests they have when subjectively giving grades and it is my fear that their practices will soon move into MY hobby. A hobby I love.
I would like to first of all say that I believe your book is an excellent source of information and the pictures are a great help. The problem I would have is if I thought you were supporting the Grading Companies I would no longer want to purchase your materials because I feel so strongly about the issue. It doesn't make you or I a bad person...it would simply be us disagreeing on a subject. In this great Country of ours one of the greatest freedoms we have is to hold our opinions and vote our conscience. My conscience tells me that i will not do business with a company or a person who supports slabbing in the chip hobby.
I honestly mean no offense to your or Mr. Wells's work, which as I stated, I think is wonderful and I harbour no ill will. I just need to know if I'm going to purchase your Third edition or not....real simple.
