If I tried to deny that condition made a difference, I'd be a fool. I know we need some way to describe the differences between chips.
If you answered this before, it's my fault for not seeing it (yet?) if not, it's quite simple. How do you make the differences between the nine different Chip States?
Do we need a 98 point scale, (or 70 point?) for chips grades? I think the five, with description covers 98% of the chips and collectors.
I can tell someone that a chip has a nick or nicks. I can say it has sharp edges. How sharp is sharp? Do we need to get a set of special tools to judge the radius and the sharpness? I have some chips that are straight from the Mfg. and have a mottled color. This would indicate that none exist with perfect color. Would it be the highest grade for that chip or would it be that none exist about a certain standard? Yet a collector looking for the best would... you get the idea.
I'm not trying to get in your face about this. I just want to know how we can have nine different Chip State grades, and what are the others like 80-89? Couldn't we just have five or ten and be done with it?
No I don't have your book. If there is a whole chapter on this, maybe I'd understand better.
