As I read this board I get the idea that some are starting to drift away from Chip Collecting. What is it that made us first collect the "Casino Chip". Value...Condition...Perfection of the Mold...or Was it to have a piece of the History of a gaming establishment. Whatever the case may be I know what the majority of you all started out doing it for and it cetainly was not for the GRADE of the Chip. Granted , Wear should be a factor you want to at least be able to distinguish were it is from and the original color would be nice too, absent from cigar burns , large chips and the like. But now I read were we are concerned as to if the Metal inset is perfectly aligned, or is there a shift in the insert. It appears to me that once we start emphasizing GRADE we may as well Slap the Damn things and Call are selves Coin & Clay Marker Collectors and quit passing ourselves off as Casino Chip Collectors. As I am a Newly dues paying member, But a Chip Collector a lot longer I will personally restrict my Trades and Purchases with only Chip Collectors and No One who emits any Odors of a Single Stripped Coin Grading Skunk. Back TO THE BASICS...PLEASE!! Have a Happy DAy and keep on a Chipping
