I think that it has something to do with the game itself. I dislike american roulette, but when I was in Europe a couple of years back, it was all that I played. The dealers were very well trained, and the setting was elegant. I was intesting to see 8 players use the same color chips and never get into an arguement over who made which bet. I agree that they are lightweight and don't have the feel of clay or brass, but the are a little more unique, and they have a little more exclusive feel.
Just my two cents. (BTW - I don't own any of the Paris Jetons.)
