I propose that we develop a POLICY for the CT/GTCC members to make known to the Chip manufactures and Casinos.
I think we should discuss on the BB here the pros and cons and come up with a policy that we would offer to the membership at the Convention Business MTG. to be voted upon for endorsement.
THE Policy would concern LIMITED EDITION CHIPS!
Limited edition chips are making GREED and unrest in our hobby. Let me throw out a couple of points for discussion and see if we can generally agree on a Policy.
I would ask that one of our officers or Mr. Jim Riley become the editor of this Policy to be voted upon at Convention.
I will start with a couple of thoughts. Now don't attack them, just offer your opinions and additions.
A sufficient number of chips should be made to allow collectors to obtain the chip in the first N days of release.
This will allow dealers who have a customer list to fill and be taken care of.
For most releases a number like 5000 may be the answer. For others smaller and still others larger.
After the N days most or all the remaining chips would be put on the tables for play. This would encourage new collectors. They also should put chips on the tables on release day.
I cannot understand the need for a small release of chips. This is only causing GREED to enter the hobby and not letting it be a collectors venue.
Even old BRADFORD takes orders b4 firing those plates to tell how many to make. This might be a way for the Casinos to help determine the quantity by letting dealers pre-order.
Those Casinos who follow this policy would have the endorsement of CC/GTCC and have the designation of "CHIPPER FRIENDLY".
Any thought or comments?
