Great article Jim! This should be in our club magazine. I remember when the red & yellow or yellow & red Diamond Jim's .50 were $2 from Jack Mason who kept some when the place he ran closed. He must of had a few boxes. Same with the red & green ones. Lucky Nevada wasn't too rare either. Now I can get over $50 easy on ebay.

I found the Mustang Club Ely $1's. Actually a collector friend in Ely "found" them. I bought 90 of the 97 remaining in the old box. (he kept some to trade). I have maybe 2 left! I don't recall seeing any up until this time. This was the best selling chip of all small town casino chips that I have ever handled. Less than a third were the "red tails." All were used a bit & had edge nicks. Unlike the Diamond Jim's which are always mint.

Another very rare one worth mentioning is the Riviera $100 4th issue (same issue as the X- rare .50) yellow & red & viseversa. These come in key chains with advertising on them & I dont recall what they say. Dated 1960 I believe. The back is blank. I removed one to see! Speaking of the 4th .50. I would say right now if a nice mint one was offered at my high end book value of $900 it would be a great deal. This chip is never offered for sale! If anyone has one let me know. I want to keep accurate rarity ratings.

Just last night I picked up a collection with some great chips! One of the better ones happens to be a "dovetail" Mint $2.50. Purple tail. Used as most you see are. This Christy & Jones era did not have very strong hot stamps.

Let's talk dovetails! Tell us what you have! I think this would make for interesting board reading. Does anyone have the Golden Nugget in near mint to mint condition? All I have seen are worn. All 2!
