The color change is a function of your browser. The bb software has no control over that.

I have noticed though, that if I get an email notification of a message, if I click on the link in the email and read the message, then leave the board, if I come back later the normal way, the message will not show up as my having read it. Again, it is a function of the browser and how you have it set. I haven't had enough time to experiment with the "problem" that I mentioned, but will someday.
