I made it down to the new Pala Casino in northern San Diego county -- 120 miles roundtrip. I was able to pick up all the chips & tokens as requested in emails to me. Will respond individually on Monday to those that ordered chips &/or tokens.
BTW, I have 3 more pieces of each of the chips & token you see in the attached scan. If interested, contact me by email.
The casino was arranged very professionally. About the size of The Reserve, except no hotel. Many REAL slots (coin in/coin out; also paper redemption slips if too many coins to pay). Banked table games including BJ, mini-baccarat, Let it Ride, Caribbean Stud, 3 Card Poker. However, no craps or roulette in any California Indian casinos. Nice added amenities - restaurants, etc. Excellent multi-level parking garage. Slot card program. They clearly had outside experienced help to set it up like this.
It was crowded, as expected on 5th day since grand opening. Approx. 80% of the machines and 90% of the table games had playing customers...they were minting money today!! Operations ran pretty smooth, given its first week and the big crowds. Had to stand in line for 30 minutes to cash out though. The main drawback to its location is that it's 5 miles off the interstate (I-15) along a winding 2 lane highway. I'm glad it was daylight when I was driving.
Chips & token pictured, including the $5 grand opening. The slot machine "paddle" that says "Resting - Wake Me at 7:30..." was used (I assume ) to lock up all the machines until the starting time on April 3. I just picked up a few of these laying around. I was successful in getting a few extra blank slot cards, which I will bring to the convention to sell or trade for others I need. They even have logo'd towelettes and a logo gift shop.
