If a check is received in that amount by Steff .. it certainly WOULD break the record. The significant thing about this sale is that it is a matter of public record. Too often I've seen reports of chip deals transacted at high prices ... only to find out later that the deal was not all cash up front. Sometimes these private high-power transactions involve trades of other valuable chips in the mix that are not disclosed. A public sale of this magnitude for a single chip certainly is a newsworthy event.... and good for the hobby. The club needs a Publicity Chairman to report these type transactions to the Press. It surely would go a long way to promote the hobby and give it some legitimacy on a par with other valuable collectibles.
