I always stopped it early.
But
A jerk player does NOT give a dealer the right to be a jerk. A dealer has the option of calling the floor man and let him be the jerk.
If a player throws cards at a dealer, he CAN be put out of the casino. If the dealer throws them back, he WILL be put out of the casino.

I once had a player call a dealer a MFer. The dealer called him a MFer back. The player was asked to leave the casino. The dealer was fired.
