Peter; We agree to disagree (strongly disagree on my part).

If I'm about to sell something I know nothing about, I would certainly consult with someone who DOES know something about the subject before I tout it as being "rare". I think it's a poor excuse to say "it's ok." for a seller to term something as "rare" simply because he/she didn't know anything about the item being sold. This issue is about "credibility" not "ignorance".
