I think you missed my point.

You say: A bidder should not be concerned with what any other bidder is going to do

I'm not talking about what the other bidders will do. I'm talking about the seller. What reason is there for a seller to not be honest and state the reserve? Why should it be kept a secret?

Here's my question for Ebay buyers? Do any of you prefer to bid on auctions with secret reserves? Or would you rather just have a stated minimum bid?

By the way Bob, don't take any of this personally. My pet peeve on Ebay are these Secret Reserve auctions. And in talking to others I know I'm not along in disliking them.
