I thought about that Jim, but everybody I've spoken to said that they are going to be so busy at Tropicana they didn't want to leave the host convention hotel and all the anti-slabbers company just to try to win a few strikes.
Plus, some chippers said they would rather stand in line at O'Sheas and recruit some homeless folks off the street to get around the one set per person rule for the convention chip set. There is no way they were going to pay a dealer maybe $3 over face, when they can waste hours at O'Sheas and buy them at face value before they are all sold out. Heck, if they wait for the cashier to go on break, they may even be able to double or triple-dip.
Plus I read one post a little while ago from a person who said he's gotten so turned off collecting club convention items since he got shut out of the Orleans convention chip two years ago and that he even gave up collecting them. He probably never bought a chip over face from a dealer either... or else the thought never occured to him.
The silver strikes are going to be very scarce if nobody bothers to get them during the convention. I heard that AFTER the convention is over, the machines will be emptied and the convention strikes destroyed. This will make them very rare and I'll make a killing on ebay. I may even hold a dutch auction and offer 50 of them at a time. Oh boy... show me the money!!!
