Travis, Here is the answer. Makes little sense, seeing as they say "Caveat Emptor". But it also stops the "underage" from closing an auction too soon. Perhaps they will do it to all bidder's to stop the underage from bidding as well.
"Step 3: If you already have a credit card on file with us or have
previously been ID verified, the auction will end automatically after we
have verified your User ID and password.
If you do not have a credit card on file with us or are not already ID
verified, you will be asked to complete a verification step by choosing
either credit card verification (free) or ID Verify Service ($5 fee).
NOTE: If you choose to place your credit card on file with us, your
credit card will not be charged and will only be used for verification
purposes."
And secondly, Me thinks the selling of the "lists" may refer to them selling the Feedback and other info to the new buyer if they ever did sell. The changing of the email was for the good but albeit late. I got and get more mail from "E-Name" pullers (they do it with software) than almost anywhere else. Does make it a hassle to contact someone, especially for late bidders like me, but I think in the long run, Less junk email is worth it. Which people do at this site as well. No stopping it here really. Ever get the email addressed to every version of your name at your ISP?
