How come everyone has to pick on Rene to the exclusion of the others who are attempting to do the same thing. Is it because he is honest
enough to admit he got 200 chips? Rene is doing exactly what he has always done. Trying to hustle a buck. So why is anyone surprised?
Hi Jim,
I will try to address your question and statement. First of all, I have been told that Rene got around 440 chips not 200. This information is in the process of being proved but for now it is still speculation. Regardless it should not be acceptable to purchase chips so as to deprive COLLECTORS of obtaining ONE for their collection. To do so demonstrates GREED beyond what the other dealers/individuals do. I nor anyone else who reads this board has ever doubted Rene was only in our hobby to make a buck. I don't believe any of us were surprised he did what he did. Speaking for myself only, I was disappointed. Disappointed that a young man would allow his GREED to dictate his behavior. You see Jim, this is a hobby based upon the character of individuals. We trust each other in transactions, descriptions of chips, payment, information, etc.
When a character element such as GREED overides every other consideration we or I should say I begin to at least doubt the other character elements. This makes it extremely difficult to operate within the elements of our hobby.

What about Pete and the Derby chips? What about Dave & the Pai Gow chips? What about the (still un-named) guys who cleaned out the
Nevada Palace $2.50s last year?
What about them Jim???? Does it make what Rene did any less important. If what you stated above is true and I must say I did not hear of those "things" until very recently what difference does it make at this moment. It is kinda like the cop who stops YOU for speeding. You say "hey officer, what about all these other guys?" and he says forget them right now I got you!

Why do we waste so much valuable space on the BBS harranging human nature? As long as Greed exists, people will do greedy things. Cross
the greedy dealers off your list. Ignore inflated chips -- they'll come down in price -- have patience. Finally, get on with your lives. This nit on the
nut of a knat is not that important!
I disagree Jim. To me it is VERY IMPORTANT. I am always interested in the people I deal with. If you think about it so are you. So is everyone! That's why we read about all these different individuals who sell on Ebay here on Greg's board. Making sure any type of scurrilous transaction is exposed. Things like selling fantasy chips, the use of the word RARE, etc. etc.
I for one have a life . I get along just fine. I have not bashed Rene. I simply want transactions hurting my collector friends made public. It doesn't matter to me that the transaction didn't affect ME because it affects MY HOBBY. Thanks for reading. I didn't mean to attack you so please don't take this note that way. I'm just sharing my opinion. Thanks, Best - Jim
