You have a better search engine than I do, Larry! I found the reference to the SF club (later Bimbo's) and a famous painting, but not the one to the Paris activities. A bunch of Indian references came up on the "Bal" portion, but that didn't add up.

Do you know when the SF club changed its name? It was Bimbo's while I lived in the Bay area in the late 60's. I'd bet the tie-in is to the old Paris nightclub.
