Welcome to the BB and the club. I hope you do well as a dealer. (although I know I'll never buy anything slabbed.) I'm one of those "Cheap Chippers" as Jim P. had the foresight to label me. And of course as a friend I admit he's right!
Sorry to disagree with you, but we have "way" more fun with chips, tokens and casino collectibles, than any baseball card collector ever will, because we can still touch them. ;-) I have even used parts of my collection for friendly games of poker. Can't do that with a slabbed chip!
One thing that graders and slabbers miss, which is very important, is that in most cases chippers don't give a hoot about perfect condition vs almost perfect, and the price is mainly based upon availability. I know if it's worn and dog meat, it's less, but the difference between like new and slightly used is minimal.
Now maybe you can explain the chart below, because no one else can understand or explain nine grades of CS? Is it like "untouched by human hands", once touched, has a speck of lint, was once actually used on a table game... LOL I'm laughing because it's so silly.
ps I don't clean most of the older chips I have. That BS&T adds to the reality of them. I have thousands of chips, and usually sell anything I find that's close to or over $100, to feed my habit for more, more, more!
