The "washed out" set really has nothing to do with the original
chips from the Club Royale that I'm offering. The chips you refer to (washed out) were Chipco
ceramic chips from another ship and should not be
offered as original Club Royale chips, and collectors should not be led to believe the term "washed out" meant that the chips were salvaged from the ocean's depth. The Club
Royale and the chips on board rests on the ocean
floor; too deep to salvage. The captain, first mate and cook were lost at sea. The original chips were distributed by Summit Casino Products. From what I undertand that whole inventory of the dull "washed out" Chipcos (has nothing to do with the ocean; just the way the cips look) was
purchased when the casino closed.
I don't know how much the $2.50 chip is worth, but I do know that very few walked.
Both series of chips are illustraded in "A Guide to Florida's Gaming Chips, Checks and Tokens."
