... to everyone who participated in the process, whether as a candidate, an election official, a supporter and, perhaps most importantly, a voter.
1) For myself, I'd like to particularly thank my most stalwart supporters:
Archie Black, whose early suggestion was a primary motivating factor in my decision to run and whose unwavering support was a continuing source of inspiration and resolution over the past eight months.
Andy Hughes, another early and enthusiastic supporter, who not only spoke in my support often and vigorously, but also provided space on his website for my campaign materials.
One member who shall, at least for the time being, remain anonymous, but who also encouraged me early on to run and who has provided ongoing private, but nevertheless important, support.
2) Also to the three candidates who offered to participate in our "Teamwork" campaign:
Neal Silverman & Marty Kaplan, founders & hosts of the Chequers website, who are close personal friends and who helped boost my spirits in times of discontent and discouragement during the campaign. Neal also deserves credit for introducing me to the CC>CC back in our CompuServe days. Marty's organizational and promotional skills were invaluable in presenting our message.
Ralph Myers, who I did not know well before the campaign, but who has proven himself a thoughtful, diligent and enthusiastic participant in the campaign process.
3) Everyone else who offered their public endorsement of my candidacy, several of whom stood by their endorsements despite significant differences of opinion on one or both of the two "hot" issues of the campaign (chapter/club membership and slabbing). These supporters included John Benedict, Steve Blust, Jim Gaito, Jim Gardner, Larry hollibaugh, Tony Kreusch, Tommy Leggio, Travis Lewin, Bob Orme, Michael Par, Jim Perlowski, Pete Rizzo, Peter Sanders, Paul Sax, Skip Sesling, Katie Smith, Leonidas Tan, Robert Touts and Aaron Turnbow.
4) And many others who offered private support and encouragement while choosing to remain publically neutral.
5) And, last but not least, everyone else not otherwise mentioned who did me the honor of voting for me and thereby offered to commit their own vision of the future of our club to my care.
I was particularly pleased that each and every candidate for office in this election conducted his campaign in a civilized, dignified and professional manner. No matter who wins any office, our club will be well-served by the members of the new board.
Thanks again to everyone! ----- jim o\-S
