Of course ICG wants people to think they can rely on their grading, but take a look at the terms that ICG has posted on their website. Below is language copied directly from their site. The sum and substance of it is that if ICG grades a coin wrong you have no recourse against them. If they don't stand behind their "professional jusgment and opinion" then how can a novice collector rely on them?
"The grading of coins is an exercise of professional judgment and opinion, which can be subjective and may change from time to time. As a result, ICG shall assume no liability of any kind whatsoever and makes no warranties or representations to Customer for any grade assigned by ICG to any coins."
