The response will continue to be part of the same thread, no matter what your preferences are set for. You will notice the same thing happening to you after we have messages on the board for more than 2 weeks.

Problem is, that when you set you preferences to 2 weeks, the program has to put together a list of 1,000 - 5,000 messages before it can send you the index page. That will really slow down your access to the board. It also sharply increases the amount of data transfer from the site which is my only concern about keeping more messages here instead of in the archives.

I really think 2 or 3 days will suit most people quite well. Especially when you stop to think that with the old board archiving everything more than 500 messages, there were never more than a day or twos messages on the board anyway.
