A full page ad in the magazine costs $60. Postage alone to send a separate mailer to all club members would cost more than $800. And, as you noted, that doesn't include the cost of producing the mailer.

It seems to me that it is a comparatively small distraction to have the political ads in the club magazine to accommodate the volunteer candidates.
