I too noticed the same things you mention in your post when I received my package of Crystal Park Chips last week.

The design of the H&C's in the Giant H&C is similar to that in the Reversed Hat & Cane (RHC) used in the Boomtown chip shown below (Yes the boomtown has two reversed hats as mentioned in your #3 description above)

Also I believe that this is the eighth mold. Recall that there is also a Long Cane Version (refer to Chipology 101 Pgs 23 & 24), as well as there are two H&C molds used with the Full Graphic mold - RHC (as mention in #4 above) and the "normal" H&C shown in the Viejas chip below (also shown in Chipology 101 Pg 25).
