Rookie Question

I'm looking to answer a simple question that I have.

Looking to define the difference between a Retired chip and an Obsolete chip for some of us rookies.

My belief is that a Retired chip is a chip no-longer in use by a casino.
Which is very similar in an Obsolete Chip - except with an obsolete the casino is no longer open? Were as the retired chip is?

Also other then when a casino changed house rack chips - how long before a Limited edition chip becomes retired or other?

Finally, I'm sure there is a book or books that will tell which chips are retired?

Thanks for all the assistance,
Eric Chizum
