Terry,
You and I have had several deals over the recent couple of years. I had the pleasure of meeting you at the last convention, although it was brief. I read and re-read your post with interest and pleasure. Thanks you for putting into words, in a very succinct way, many of the thoughts I, too, hold. I started collecting chips back in the early 60's before I knew it was of interest to others besides me. I would sit down at a blackjack table, buy in for $20 and put one of the $5's in my pocket. Sometimes the $5 was free, other times it cost me a hundred or two. The point is, it was fun then and it still is fun now. I have posted with others relative to the slabbing issue because, as I've stated earlier, the thrill for me has always been handling the chips, stacking them and sometimes, wondering whom else may have held the same chip. The "mystery" of the casinos has always intrigued me!
Maybe we can form another chapter, one where no "taking sides" is encouraged or allowed. It would be just what I perceived CC>CC to be when I joined two years ago...a group of people from everywhere who liked to buy, sell, trade and collect chips, pretty much like me.
Thanks for your thoughts and I look forward to seeing you and your collection at the convention!
