Dick,(since I am one of the Board of Directors) I totally support the action of the Board of Directors of the A.C. Chapter in making a $100 donation to the Slab Free effort. In addition, instead of refunding to me the $100 from the Chapter for the Eldorado $100 Plaque that was "lost" at the November meeting I would rather have the Chapter donate an additional $100 to the slab free effort. I have already made a $50 donation for the slab free buttons that were made up for the Super Bowl Show.I, also challenge all other Officers of all Chapters who are opposed to slabbing to step forward and put your money were your mouth is and make a donation toward the Slab Free effort. This is a amall price to pay to protect our hobby from being destroyed by the slabbing Cancer. I can not put a monetary value on the pleasure and enjoyment that I have gotten from collecting chips and making new friends through this hobby over the last nine years since I joined the Club. Chipping is a very big part of my life and it will be even more so after my retirement in April.I have seen what slabbing has done to other hobbies (coin collecting in particular). Chips are not minted to precise standards by a National Government they are only pieces of clay and plastic used by Casinos.Looking at a chip to see if it is worn or damaged is one thing but "slabbing" and "grading by a highly subjective numerical system" is totally unneeded in this hobby. I love this hobby and I will continue to contribute my time, effort and if needed money to ensure that it continues to be a fun and pleasurable pursuit and not a cold , calculating, greedy, manipulative, speculative, profit driven, senseless, sterile and totally worthless pursuit of plastic containers with no"real" value. I am and will remain Slab Free.
