Re: Certified Chips Sold in My Stores

Duke, could I suggest a little more tolerance and understanding of other collectors in the hobby we are a part of? You may collect current, or inexpensive chips, but there are a number of collectors interested in older, classic, and expensive chips. This may not be of interest to you, but please don't put them down for wanting a type of chip that's not of interest to you.

This is not a grading or "slabbing" issue, but one of scarcity. The buyers of the chips in the post above were not "suckers", but were collectors of a different kind of chip that I believe you collect. These chips will always cost more than chips you can get from the casinos at face value. Take a look at the results of recent club auctions for examples of these expensive chips.

There's room in the hobby, and the club, for collectors of inexpensive limited editions, as well as for collectors of rare chips. Hearing about other collectors who invest more than your care to in chips that please them should not make you sick.
