.........of the Club Magazine! He posted the following on the Club Board.
"I do not come to debate, but only to state my
opinion:
"THE LIST" (also known as a pledge).
I do not believe our club should accept such an
instument for publlication in our magazine.
What it has turned out to be could become a lot
worse in the future, especially if used as it has
been on TheChipBoard.com and at a local chapter (a reference), by pointing out that some well-known dealers in our club who are not on the list are not on it for one reason, and one reason only, and that is because they plan to sell slabbed material.
The list should not become a base in our magazine as
a reference to point out that those not on it are
not worthy to do business with. This is not the purpose of our magazine.
Luckilly, it is documented by the originator of the
list (also known as a pledge), Jim Reilly, that
the pledge (list) he penned was not intended for the
purpose in which it is now being used.
With this fact so being stated by the originator of
the list/pledge, I strongly suggest, that this list
never be published in our magazine.
I feel the purpose of our magazine is to promote our
hobby and those who write and advertise in it, and
not as a tool to protest (even though its thought of
as a pledge). I also feel that since our club has
not taken any position on slabbing that such
reference to it that can wrongfully be used to harm
membership should not be permitted to be printed
What I've mentined here is not assumption, but actual fact seen before us in its early stages.
We must not allow what this list has turned out to be, to be published in our magazine.
John Benedict,
