... thanks to the observations of several people here (I'd give Peter Sanders credit, but he already inadvertently convinced me that prohibiting the sale of slabbed chips through club venues was a good idea):

Since there appears to be a perception that I want to prohibit individuals from collecting slabbed chips entirely and, despite that wretched advertising motto: "Perception is not always reality", I have decided that what we should REALLY do about slabbing is as follows:

1) Issue an international CC>CC edict prohibiting any member of the club from owning, possessing, buying, selling, trading, manufacturing, transporting, or offering for sale any slabbed casino collectible (including, but not limited to casino and gambling chips, checks, placques & jetons; tokens, silver strikes (and/or silver premium tokens); dice; slot cards & room keys; ashtrays & matchbooks; swizzle sticks; slot machines & roulette wheels; blackjack & poker tables; ice machines; and other gambling memorabilia).

----- NOTE: That provision will eliminate the need to prohibit the sale or promotion of slabbed chips in club venues.

2) Establish as our club motto the following: "A real chipper does not slab chips, buy slabbed chips or possess slabbed chips, nor tolerate those who do."

3) In support of the foregoing, amend the club by-laws to provide that any member found to be in violation of paragraph 1 will be immediately and summarily thrown out of the CC>CC.

4) Surrender our non-profit, tax exempt status so that we can lobby Congress to amend the Hobby Protection Act to prohibit, as a matter of federal law, anyone from ever slabbing any casino collectible.

5) Better yet, lobby for the designation of slabbing as a federal felony, punishable by imprisonment in the federal pentitentiary.

Now THAT would REALLY be telling people what they can and cannot collect! <g>
