Mark,
I have to respect you as a business man. You are doing what is best for your business.
It is unfortunate however what you are doing is not in the best interest of us, the collectors.
There are many issues here to deal with.
Firstly ICG has refused to tell anyone who all these so called experts are that are supposedly grading these chips. Selling 38 chips at a value of $11,400 makes the average chip sale at $300.
As a purchaser wouldn't you want to know how these people arrived at their decisions and who the so called experts were.
If these "high end" chips were graded and a value was placed upon them, what was used as a basis of comparison? Let's say the item was unique what difference would the grade make?
How do you ascertain the availabe quantity. On coins we have mintage figures on old chips there are none and on a regular basis troves are uncovered.
The only people that ultimately benefit by all this are dealers and slabbing companies.
This is my hobby and you are helping to ruin it. As it stands there are at least 250 of us that have pledged NOT to buy slabbed products nor to deal with anyone who does.
I am but one of a rapidy growing number who will fight the slabbing issue to my fullest.
SLABBING DOES NOT INCREASE VALUE....ONLY THE COST
