Allen; I don't think my suggestion had anything to do with not contributing newsworthy articles to the club magazine. Certainly I would think that local club meetings could by published and new issues that are released from around the country still be included in the magazine. A parent usually does not ignore a child who has chosen to be independent. It would be foolish for the National not to acknowledge that there are independent chip and token clubs around the country who are promoting the hobby.... no different than the organization currently promotes and publicizes privately sponsored commercial shows that are not connected to CC & GTCC ... such as the recently concluded Palace Station chip show, Jim Munding's Casinorama, the former Arizona Charlie's super bowl weekend show, Bob Gabel's Blast From the Past, etc. All the club is looking for in return is encouragement and support from all of these entities. Web-site messages that say, "you no longer have to belong to CC & GTCC in order to join our organization" is not what I feel is condusive to good relations with the National.
Personally, I don't think that the 80% rule would work. It's either an all or nothing proposition. Chapter's can't choose which 80% of the rules they will abide by and disregard the other 20%; nor can they operate under a quota-system that says 80% must be CC & GTCC members and 20% non-National members. What happens when 80% drops to 75% and the 20% goes to 25%? We're back to the same problem.
Thanks for your response.
